   英语美文摘抄200字 (一)   Father had a family of sons who were perpetually quarrelling among themselves. When he failed to heal their disputes by his exhortations, he determined to give them a practical illustration of the evils of disunion;
and for this purpose he one day told them to bring him a bundle of sticks. When they had done so, he placed the faggot into the hands of each of them in succession, and ordered them to break it in pieces. They each tried with all their strength, and were not able to do it. He next unclosed the faggot, and took the sticks separately, one by one, and again put them into their hands, on which they broke them easily. He then addressed them in these words: "
My sons, if you are of one mind, and unite to assist each other, you will be as this faggot, uninjured by all the attempts of your enemies;
but if you are divided among yourselves, you will be broken as easily as these sticks."

孩子们!如果你们大家团结一致,互相帮助,你们就像这捆柴一样,不能被你们的敌人折断;

夕阳反射在济贫院的窗上,像身在富户人家窗上一样光亮;

大多数人以为他们是超然的,不靠城镇来支援他们;

英语美文摘抄200字 (四) Eliminate Internal Negative Chatter The first step is one of awareness. It will be hard to make a change to positive thinking without being acutely intimate with the thoughts that run through your mind. Recently, I was amazed to discover deep buried emotions from negative thoughts that I had for fewer than 10 minutes. Without awareness, I would have carried the hurt and anger inside. Awareness helped me to bring them out to the open for me to deal with. Undoubtedly it will not be easy to make a switch if you have a long history or negative self talk. Your talk became negative over the years due to various factors. For instance, if your first grade teacher repeatedly told you that you were "
stupid"
, you might believe it to be truly the case. You would find that your inner chatter would often be filled with talk of "
I am so slow"
and "
it is so hard to learn"
. If you constantly tell yourself such negative stories, your actions are going to reflect your low self esteem. It will be difficult to get very far if you are always putting yourself down. A common negative talk involves telling yourself "
I can’t"
. When you say to yourself "
I can’t"
or "
it is too difficult"
, you are creating a resistance. Having such a mental block will prevent you from achieving a task you could otherwise succeed at. Anytime you catch yourself saying "
I can’t…"
, turn around and challenge your own claim with, "
Why can’t I?"
Research shows that most geniuses became the people they are also because of the hard work they put in. So if you would like to be successful, you need to start saying "
I can"
a lot more. A great method that I have also found useful is to say "
Cancel Cancel"
each time I find myself saying something negative, whether in the mind or verbally. The method works if you sincerely have the intent of becoming a positive thinker. 英语美文摘抄200字 (五) positive Affirmations Affirmations are positive statements of a desired outcome or goal. They are usually short, believable and focused. By repeating them over and over again, you build inroads into your subconscious mind, opening up the possibility of a new state of thoughts. An important step when repeating affirmations is that you need to read your affirmations aloud with feeling. The mere reading of the words bears no consequence unless you put some emotions behind them. Of significant fact is that your subconscious mind takes any orders given in complete faith and after repeated self talk. So the daily practice of repeating affirmations is important. Initially you may be skepticism toward the statement of your positive affirmation. However, if you follow this simple set of instructions your skepticism will soon give way to a new set of beliefs and then crystallized into absolute faith. 英语美文摘抄200字 (六) positive Scripts One thing that you may observe is on how easy it is for your mind to build negative thought upon negative thought. The chatter not only does not stop but it spins a drama that traps and limits you. From now on, regularly do this exercise instead. Spin an uplifting story that runs like a movie script. Some visualization will be helpful. You build on a story with a positive outline. The longer you can tell this story to yourself the better. It is also best if you can make this story one about having all your goals achieved. When you do this, you start to internalize your goals and dreams, as if they are something that you have already achieved. 英语美文摘抄200字 (七) Replace Negative Influences with positive Ones It is important that you identify external negative factors in your life which may be holding your thoughts hostage. For instance, your mental state can become toxic by being around friends who are negative. If you are not vigilant enough, you will start to adopt their thoughts as your own. Hence, be alert to what your negative influences are. If they come from certain friends, limit your exposure to them as much as you can. Refrain from discussing your plans with people who will be unsupportive of your dreams and goals. Instead surround yourself with thoughts and actions from people who will empower you. From being uninspired and de-motivated, you will begin to feel uplifted and driven to greater self growth. The positive energy that they vibrate will start affecting the self talk that you engage in as well. 英语美文摘抄200字 (八) Present Tense Messages You may find yourself daunted by the many things you need to do in order to reach your goals. It just seems overwhelming to become the success that you secretly desire for. Your mind gets caught up in an endless stream of worry. What may be helpful is to concentrate on steps you can take in the present. If you find yourself becoming stuck, stop and say, "
What can I do right now?"
Change your internal talk from a future anxiety ridden one to one that is about the more manageable present. You cannot control what will happen in the future but you can take the necessary steps now that will build a better tomorrow. Taking the necessary steps require you to focus your thoughts and inner talk on Now. 英语美文摘抄200字 (九) Confront Fears Fear is often what holds you back from your success. You are scared of taking chances because you fear losing the security that you enjoy now. You try to convince yourself that you are happy in your current state when in fact, you are not. Your self talk may sound positive in your attempt to lie to yourself. But somehow, there is an inner knowing that you are short changing yourself. Ask yourself what you are afraid of. What can be the worst that can happen? Take a step-by-step approach in breaking down your fears and see if there is any way round to looking at thin。

1 致忧伤的你 Dear Anyone Having a Bad Week, 亲爱的度过糟糕一周的你: I'
m sorry. I have no idea why your week is bad, or how bad it actually is. I don'
t know if you'
ve told anyone, if there'
s anything that could fix it or if it'
s made you rather unpleasant to be around. But I do know that I'
m sorry that you'
re hurting, or stressed, or exhausted, or grieving, or frustrated, or depressed, or lonely, or scared or lost.

I thought about writing this letter in a couple of different ways. I thought about writing it about the things you could do to feel better: show yourself passion, go outside and look at the trees, look at a baby photo of yourself. Or I thought about focusing the letter on how the "
bad weeks"
can actually be pretty beautiful, if you look at them the right way. I almost wrote those letters, and maybe at some point I will, but I think I ended up deciding that I wasn'
t writing to make anyone feel better -- I just want you to feel heard.

我想象写一些可以让你感到好些的事情:比如对自己表示同情、出去看看树木或者看看自己儿时的照片;

  There'
s something about humans that makes us crave for our pain to be recognized. There is something inherently good and forting in having someone say, "
Yeah, that sounds really hard,"
or, "
It really sucks that you have to deal with all that."

  But unfortunately, that'
s not always the direction that society pushes us in. We have been taught that bad days are to be silently borne beneath a bright *** ile;
that expressions of pain are unfortable.

I want you to know you can feel free to spill your bad day all over the place and wear it on the front of your shirt.

I want you to know that the expressions of your pain are beautiful and that I will try my very hardest to feel the hurt with you. I want you to know that your grumpy, stressed out, short-tempered self is just as awesome as your cheerful self. Please do not shun your suffering.

In writing this, know that I hear you, and let yourself be healed. I hope your day turns around, and that even if it doesn'
t, you can still find a few moments of beauty and/
or happiness amidst the crappiness. For all of you not having bad days -- carry on, and enjoy.

1. Don'
t avoid or ignore negativity. 1. In order to conquer and overe, it must be acknowledged. This can include people in your life who may be bringing you down, a hostile workplace environment or even a personal stressor that you haven'
t conquered quite yet. You are in control of your environment and if these negative situations keep making an appearance, it'
s up to you to handle them.

  2. Take care of yourself and your needs. 2.

In order to feel pelled to live a powerful and meaningful life, you must love you. Take care of your actions and how you live each day, and this will be reflected in your thoughts and emotional state of mind. Love yourself fully in order to love others fully.

  3. Mend what'
s broken or get rid of it. 3.

Determining what is worth your time and effort and what is not can be challenging. If situations are toxic and beyond repair, it'
s time to let go. Are there relationships or friendships that remain damaged but you know are worth the time? Fix them and find peace. Do what you can to find love in situations where it may have be absent in the past.

4. Give back. 4.

Giving our time, energy, love, mentorship and sometimes money is what life is about. Everything we put out into the world es back to us. My mom taught me a quote she learned in Mexico that stuck with me forever, "
donde en uno, en dos."
***where one can eat, two can eat.*** It moves me every time I say it out loud. At the end of the day, no matter what you have you are likely in a position to give something *** all to someone else who needs it. Don'
t hesitate.

  5. Things that make us *** ile, laugh and feel good are just awesome. 5.

This one is pretty simple...Just do MORE of it. Do more of what makes you happy! I truly believe that in the super fast paced world we live in, happiness may not e as easily as we wish. In order to navigate through work and responsibilities that seem monotonous, we have to actively pursue and engage in beautiful acts of love and kindness. So get to it!

We all see and hear about extraordinary people around us and wonder why can’t we be more like them? Sometimes we chuck that notion as absurd and unachievable. I would say not so fast. It’s not the big things that make someone extraordinary. It’s the *** all things.

Things that over a period of time have the power to radically change your life. They bee extraordinary by making a difference in someone'
s life. Here are some of the things extraordinary people do every day:

  1. They are open to critici *** 他们乐于接受批评 Just because you’re the boss, doesn’t mean you are right every time. It doesn’t mean you have the best ideas. Learn to back up your ideas or decisions with reason. Use logic to explain things, not authority. By doing this your decisions might invite critici *** , but you will also get an opportunity to improve.

  2. They admit their mistakes My friend’s boss made a huge mistake by tying up with an event management pany. The whole purpose of the tie-up was to promote his pany but it failed miserably. Instead of defending his idea and carrying on as if nothing happened, he apologised to the team for not including them in the decision making. It’s OK to admit you were wrong. You will not only gain the respect of your team mates, you will also gain credibility.

  3. They are generous with pliments Remember the time, say in school or at work when you worked really hard but got nothing in return. Not even a thank you. It hurts when your efforts are not recognized. So every chance you get to praise someone, do it. A simple, “That was some great work, keep it up,” can go a long way in making the employee feel great about them self. A pliment can have a positive impact on their lives. Your team/
family will love you for it.

  4. They are sensitive to others Think about a time you plimented someone and the recipient changed the topic? Maybe he or she was unfortable. But you still were not amused were you? Similarly, when you feel awkward receiving a pliment or an award, remain in control and give the person in front of you a genuine *** ile and thank him or her. Don’t make the moment sour by acting on your insecurities.

  5. They ask for help When you need help, don’t be arrogant or shy and stop yourself. If you’re lost on the road, it is fine to ask for directions. Everyone needs a little help sometime. When you ask for help, you receive help. By doing so, you’re letting people know you’re no superhuman, that you’re willing to listen, you also need support at times…which only show you could bee a great leader someday.

  6. They apologize when needed We all make mistakes, but what makes a person big is when he is ready to apologize. Don’t try to hide behind excuses: “I didn’t mean to say it, it just happened.” “I was irritated with such and such person so…” No. Don’t try to shift blame. Just e right out and say you’re sorry.

  7. They are willing to learn When you don’t understand how something works, let an expert show you. When you let someone teach you something, you are telling the person that you respect their talent, time and that you believe he knows what he is talking about. That you respect their experience. Always be willing to learn, because there is no way in hell to know everything.

  8. They are helpful 他们乐于助人 Never hesitate to help someone. It’s fairly simple but it goes a long way. Don’t be non-mittal and say something vague like, “Can I help you?” because they might just say, “No, I’m good.” The key is to not sound patronizing. Be specific. “I had the same problem with this coffee machine in the morning. I think I have figured a way to make it work.” Offer in a way that feels mutually beneficial.

  9. They are expressive 他们愿意表达自己 They are not bottled up. They feel something they verbalize it. Then be it pulling someone for not working hard or congratulating someone on their wonderful performance. This behaviour is not only restricted to work, but is applied to every aspect of their life.

  10. They’re in charge of their emotions Sometimes it is very important to stay mum. Especially when you’re angry or irritated or bitter, you don’t want to end up saying things you didn’t really mean to. So they take their time, they process their emotions, thin back to what happened, and then e to a decision about how to tackle it. Before you say anything, consider other’s feelings. Never be rash with words or actions.

励志英文文章篇(一) An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer (contractor) of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and usedinferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.

When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house, the contractor handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "
This is your house,"
he said, "
my gift to you."

” What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well.

So it is with us. We build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather than acting, willing to put up less than the best. At important points we do not give the job our best effort. Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized, we would have done it differently.

” Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and withdignity. The plaque on the wall says, "
Life is a do-it-yourself project."

Who could say it more clearly? Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today. 励志英文文章(二) A man had a little daughter—an only and much-loved child. He lived for her—she was his life. So when she became ill, he became like a man possessed, moving heaven and earth to bring about her restoration to health.

His best efforts, however, proved unavailing and the child died. The father became a bitter recluse, shutting himself away from his many friends and refusing every activity that might restore his poise and bring him back to his normal self. But one night he had a dream.

He was in heaven, witnessing a grand pageant of all the little child angels. They were marching in a line passing by the Great White Throne. Every white-robed angelic child carried a candle. He noticed that one child‘s candle was not lighted. Then he saw that the child with the dark candle was his own little girl. Rushing to her, he seized her in his arms, caressed her tenderly, and then asked, “How is it, darling, that your candle alone is unlighted?” “Daddy, they often relight it, but your tears always put it out.”

” Just then he awoke from his dream. The lesson was crystal clear, and its effects were immediate. From that hour on he was not a recluse, but mingled freely and cheerfully with his former friends and associates. No longer would his darling‘s candle be extinguished by his useless tears.
